The basic idea being that the government run a system that you can buy into that doesn't need to make a profit, but does need to cover all of its costs. It wouldn't be subsidized like <a href="https://liberal.city/tags/medicaid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>medicaid</span></a> or <a href="https://liberal.city/tags/medicare" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>medicare</span></a>. Besides giving people an option that could be cheaper, it should help provide more transparency to the cost of health care.</p><p>For all the talk of Biden being more like FDR than recent Dems, his failure to do at least this, sucked.</p>

Does competing with the government save consumers money or doesn't it? 🤨 🤦‍♂️ </p><p>(What happens if the Market crashes? Is SS forced to cover people who didn't pay in?)</p>

Vote for Trump to spite your alleged progressive values, and show the DNC who’s the boss.</p><p>2. Vote for third party and reward Joe Lieberman —the guy who torpedoed the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PublicOption" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PublicOption</span></a>.</p><p>3. Don’t vote at all and gamble on your privilege keeping you out of the Trump’s proposed concentration camps.</p><p>4. Vote for the Greater Good, and get as many good Democrats into office as you can, and defend democracy from the fascists.</p>

That mythical majority was 59 days, and it took the endless recounts to get Al Franken seated in 2009. They got the ACA passed in that brief time DESPITE Joe “No Labels” Lieberman torpedoing the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PublicOption" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PublicOption</span></a> before losing the House to the GOP in 2010.</p><p>You want to vote 3rd Party/No Labels and reward Lieberman who took the Public Option “Off the Table”?</p><p>/1</p>
