I did get a few shots, but they were only around for 15 minutes or so before moving too far away. #birds #redkite #wildlifephotography
Next door is mowing his field, the red tail kites are out in force, ten of them. Some really big ones too. I'm a bit tired and blurry for this, and I'm shooting against the sun, but I snapped a few on the 600mm. All free shooting. It's turned out to be a long lens day.#birds #redkite #wildlifephotography
Oh my word... we just watched *seven* red kites fly over our garden. That's easily the most in one sighting. We're just on the outskirts of #Brighton and red kites have slowly been arriving. They're plentiful further north in Sussex and to the west (especially around the M25) but it's taken them a long time to reach Brighton. A few years ago we'd see maybe one or two a year, then slowly we'd get several annual sightings of lone kites. Last year it became clear that numbers were slowly increasing, but today's sighting is something else! #Birds #BirdsOfMastodon #RedKite #photography #wildlife #Nature
A Red Kite at the Holkham estate.
After hours of watching them and some marsh harriers from the other side of the reserve we got back to the car to head home. I put my camera bag down, luckily my camera wasn’t in it as I turned around and saw it flying low.
Lovely treat to see a red kite gliding over the garden at lunchtime today. They are still quite scarce around these parts, but we are seeing them a little more than we did a few years ago. Stunningly beautiful birds. #Birds #BirdsOfMastodon #RedKite #Brighton
The area around #Leudelange where I run is characterized by forests, bushes, and cultivated landscapes. Only extensive agriculture. #Luxembourg is doing a lot of things right here. Especially now in spring, you see birds of prey on almost every run. Today, a #redKite flew close over me. Majestic! Then there was a #buzzard, which was chased away by a #crow. Pretty brave, considering it was a bit smaller.

In this vlog, Flora talks about the work being done to tackle illegal poisonings and boost the survival chances of released Red kites, with the goal of creating a stable population in the Iberian peninsula."
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The red kite (Milvus milvus), an iconic, graceful raptor has had a turbulent relationship with people over the centuries, from once being praised to almost going extinct in the UK. Translocated Spanish red kites saved UK populations last century but now their Spanish cousins are in severe trouble. This project is reinforcing the southernmost populations through reintroducing 120-130 red kites from the UK to Extremadura in Spain, over a 4-year period.
