here's an explanation of my header that is not new and won't change easily

FediScience.orgDavid (@drdrowland@fediscience.org)my header image is a rocky san francisco beach and i was thinking recently about changing it. but then today i looked again at it and remembered everything about it. color is central to its meaning. all the colors, the sense of color, what we mean when we think about the concept of color. there is a rainbow fabric wing suspending a recreationalist beneath it on the wind that will never leave that beach. the photo was developed to bring out the color i saw standing on my perch from above, among the birds that owned that place more than did the discarded remnants of stone left by the same industrialists that never stopped trying to wreck my land. central to the image is the brightly colored fabric wing, but the hills around it are, too. i kept the wing looking good while amplifying the reds, greens, and yellow of the sand because when i stood there holding a camera, a few steps from my car and bundled against the frigid breath of the planet's ocean, i saw the people, the infrastructure of the planet's city, the scene of a community and what it's built after tens of thousands of years and standing there after some time i noticed the hillside's growth.

OST Observatory

New instance, new #introduction 😄
We have just left astrodon.social, which is closing down, to find a new home at scicomm.xyz. Thanks!

We are the OST (Overwhelmingly Small Telescope) Observatory at the University of Potsdam in Golm, on the outskirts of Potsdam, Germany.

Our main telescope is a PlaneWave CDK20 Astrograph. We focus on educating students in astronomy and supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate projects. We occasionally capture and share astronomical images, and we are excited to post some of them here.

We are also passionate about science outreach and regularly participate in public events such as the Potsdam Day of Science and the Long Night of Astronomy.

I'm Tom, I live in Austria, and I work as a software engineer. I'm curious by nature, I love building things (mostly digitally, but I also enjoy DIY projects, gardening, bike/car maintenance etc.), and I enjoy cooking, movies, music, video games and weight lifting amongst other things.

Hi! I'm HIR, and I'm a huge OC (original character) enthusiast and artist. I have a couple of personal creative projects that I manage, and I love messing with vocalsynths from time to time.

Started using the fediverse via vocalounge.cafe and mastodon.art back in 2019, but my activity was spotty over time that I dropped it in 2020. Wasn't until 2023 that I picked it up again by signing up for one of the more popular Misskey-based servers until I landed in mecha.garden later that year. Since then, I've been chugging a long quite well or so.

People may know me for creating and voicing vocalsynth characters Fuwa Maria and Fuwa Mario, and they're my pride and joy. I also created PROXIMA×EXPRESS, which is my casual OC project I work on in my own spare time.

Since I primarily use my Bluesky account for "professional"/networking purposes these days, I figured I should use this account for the same things I post on Bluesky (OC brainrot/yapping, art, animatics, covers, etc.) but also along with more casual posts such as photography for example. I do have a pretty low social battery these days, so I'm all cooped up on Discord for the most part. Doesn't mean I'll be inactive here though. ​:lil_guy:​

So, here's a breakdown as to what things I'll post depending on visibility settings:

I hit the incredible mark of 2K. How? I really don't know. I'm not the most social person here. I mainly post selfmade photos, sometimes boost, am a mega-liker and occasionally smurf a comment.
