What a lovely setup. I think almost 30 people brought in stuff to repair. Very nice. I think I want something similar in our town.

Repair Cafe RugbyMuch as we love repairing things at the Repair Cafe, sometimes there is another option (specifically if you're in the UK). If the item is faulty then your consumer rights will kick in and you might be able to get the manufacturer or retailer to give you a new one. The great part about this is that often you don't have to return the old item and so you can still bring this along to us to get fixed. If you don't need two of these then you an usually donate one to someone who needs it. Repair Cafe RugbyAnother 1st Saturday and another <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/repaircafe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#repaircafe</a> in <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/RugbyTown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RugbyTown</a>. This one was quieter than usual. Or maybe we should say less chaotic.Today's mix included a stereo that was in for its third session and was finally condemned. The processor seems to be fried. One of the few bits we can't replace. We gave a shovel a new handle. That required planing the handle and adding a bolt. We don't often need woodworking tools, but thankfully we have a Library of Things and that contained a plane.The most satisfying item for me was a folding pram frame that wouldn't lock in place anymore. Looks like the manufacturing process damaged the riveted hinge pins. We drilled them out and replaced them with bolts and it's as good as new. Alfred Chow - Maker of ThingsToday, at Boothstown Repair Cafe I repaired:One of the Village hall tables - The leg braces had been broken off the rivets again. Straightened the braces and replaced the solid rivets using my 8 ton press.A pair of shoes - The soles had peeled off at the toe. I glued with contact adhesive and used spots of CA glue around the edge to hold it for 24 hours.A reconstituted marble resin ornament of a stag - Three of the legs had snapped off. I glued back on with CA glue, reinforcing the hollow parts with epoxy putty. I needed the Dremel, but the battery was flat, so I did fine work with a diamond burr in the DeWalt hammer drill! 😬 A watch - I removed the back so the battery could be changed.LED strip lights - a fuseable resistor had blown. Tested and found all the LEDs still worked.
