Some people slander #retrocomputing as an old man’s game, just because most of those involved are more ancient than the hardware they’re playing with. But there are veritable children involved too — take the [ComputerSmith], who is recreating Conway’s game of life on a Macintosh Plus that could very well be as old as his parents.
Doing some retro indie game experimentation. What does the old MUD systems look like in modern 3d? How can we let imagination still fill in all the graphics, while supporting modern First Person game interactivity with joysticks and buttons over tedious text entry of commands? I'm not sure just yet what shape this will become, but this is becoming a good start. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev #retrocomputing #indiedev

On systems w existing super-peripherals, #FujiNet becomes a reference design to add useful networking features. We want projects like BlueSCSI and BackBit, etc. to add FujiNet features. We do not ask for any licensing; we want to foster a useful and ubiquitous way to network #retrogaming and #retrocomputing systems.
I found an ancient calculator (a Commodore "Minuteman 
6" -- yes, that Commodore) that I used when I was in elementary school. It belonged to my dad. The calculator was first sold in 1974.
The power leads from the battery snapped off from the main board decades ago, but now I have a Hakko desoldering tool, so I was able to clear out the through-hole solder points and reattach the wires from the battery. It has a 7-segment red LED display and minimal operations.
And...it works! Sort of. I seem to have gotten it into a sort of self-test mode that displays a scrolling 0, until I power cycle it, then it displays EEFEEE until I hit the Clear button. And some of the segments don't illuminate. But it hasn't felt electrons surging through it since the 20th century, so I'll cut it some slack.

Preparando un juego de MSX como se debe hacer: a base de picar código copiado, en este caso, del libro “Despega con tu Philips MSX” de M. Medel. Copiar código es una actividad que me resulta muy relajante, puedo hacerla pensando o con el cerebro casi desconectado.
Estoy aprovechando para repasar el Basic del MSX y no lo recordaba tan avanzado.
Always frustrating when you go looking for what was once a common package with mirrors everywhere, but now it's just *gone*. All mirrors offline, searches come up blank, not even on the Wayback Machine.
