How can we create affordable and sustainable cities run by the people who inhabit them? That question is at the heart of Andrew Lee's new book "Defying Displacement: Urban Recomposition and Social War," which offers a fresh analysis of gentrification from the perspective of the people fighting it!

On Monday, February 26th we're excited to host Andrew Lee with Vicky Osterweil (author of "In Defense of Looting") for a conversation on the possibilities for urban liberation and revolt. Andrew participated in a multi-year fight against the construction of a Google campus in San José, California that culminated in the creation of the first community land trust in the so-called Silicon Valley. He currently lives in Philadelphia and is a managing editor at The Anti-Racism Daily.

The city of #Minneapolis intends to drive unhoused people from exercising the #RightToTheCity even if it kills them (which it does).

Aside from needless death and suffering of people who are not you, housed reader, the neoliberal need to deny good things to people without property or income impacts you, also, in the lack of contingency plans to keep everyone safe during a massive blizzard.

Power goes out to half the city, and furnaces no longer work? No plan.
