TTRPG grumbling:

While I'm not generally a fan of D&D beyond's app, one thing I rather appreciate about it is the fact that I can just... Download all the books I own for totally offline access. There is a storage price to be paid for this, naturally, but I can accept that.

Compare this to Demiplane which uses a web interface exclusively. No native app, and definitely no offline access.

I would say "I expected better of them", but apparently they were bought out around this time last year by Roll20 (fun fact: so was drivethrurpg) and Roll20 has a history of either having awful apps or no apps at all, so I suppose I really shouldn't be surprised, but it's a little frustrating.

Please don't make me say "Wizards does this better" eternally?

Blog - First Impressions - #DungeonScrawl

TL;DR Dungeon Scrawl is Roll20's very simple and intuitive dungeon mapping tool which makes map creation a breeze. It won't replace #dungeondraft and other more complex tools, but in it's niche it's excellent and definitely worth a look.

So I have this pile of #travellerrpg books that I want to dig into, but I need to finish Tokyo #Otherscape first as I'm running it at Revelation and need to finalise the scenario. I kind of feel like I’m in that meme with the women dressed in red & blue and the man looking back at one distractedly, except they're #ttrpgs.

…except there are two girls in blue because I need to finish putting the final part of Secrets of Atlantis for the #AchtungCthulhu2D20 #ttrpg onto #Roll20

One thing I’ve been doing of late in an attempt to help my #RuneQuest players is short guides to specific aspects of the fairly impressive #Roll20 character sheet. I’ve generally used @ariaflame ’s Starantha as the crash test dummy, er, example in the screenshots but for the latest one I needed @rdm’s Minan as they know the Rune Spell that I wanted to demonstrate (True Sword) (and AFAIK Starantha doesn’t have True Axe, which would be the Babeester Gor equivalent)

Think I'm ready for tomorrow's game. #Roll20 build completed with everything needed to run Zozer's Far Horizon.

Using the #TravellerRPG 2e sheet which works well enough for #Cepheus. I've added oxygen readouts for the team if they use their suits and a mission time remaining (ie the 96 hours they have before they have to burn for home).

A little nervous about this (it's a long time since I ran a dedicated exploration based game. Perhaps I should watch 2010 tonight for inspiration?

#Dragonbane session 12: The party investigates the serpent beast’s lair, run afoul of some nasty little shapeshifters pretending to be eggs & loot a tomb. A grimoire is too tempting to both mages, but the language is sooooo tricky! Bastonn the wolfkin hunter persuades a giant troll to go away, so the village now thinks he’s a Jedi 😂

Also, Jumpgate on Roll20 sucks.

Tokens were disappearing. I couldn't see who was logged in (I was the GM). Laggy. Couldn't share a handout to the players with the "show to players" button. oh, and it ate one of the PC's character sheets.

Going back to the backup game.

A question for #TTRPG players! I want to write and run a homebrew campaign that will be very low magic, at least at the start, but over time will allow for some. Mostly human PCs, too, but other races can exist, and there is a Celtic-ish 'Otherworld'.

Atmosphere and flavour, think 1980s 'Robin of Sherwood' levels of otherworldiness and mystic goings on.

My question is - what ruleset lends itself best to that? I'm most familiar with D&D, but it's way too high fantasy.
