Wen<p>Afternoon run</p><p>Having an errand to run in Gala, we took the opportunity of passing Selkirk to run the Three Brethren loop.</p><p>Great temperature with a cooling breeze. Our last run here was in the winter of last year and there was quite a contrast (the snow was not there today). 9.5k with 408m of ascent, mainly uphill on the way out and downhill on the way bak.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/running" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>running</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/ScottishBorders" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ScottishBorders</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/BorderCollie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BorderCollie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/DogsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DogsOfMastodon</span></a></p>
Kat O’Brien<p>It felt so nice this morning running in temps of “only” 77F/25C. It’s been more like 86/30 the past couple weeks for my runs.<br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/running" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>running</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/runnersofmastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>runnersofmastodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/barcelona" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>barcelona</span></a></p>
Federico Hernandez<p>I got my Garmin back. I survived 8 days with out it.</p><p>Did the “usual” running in the meantime. Though I increased the amount of scrambling/climbing routes (equivalent to maybe a T3+/T4 for shorter stretches). As well as doing a couple of orienteering sessions with map and compass. That was a lot of fun and had been a while since the last time. The map is the green forest from the satellite image. </p><p><a href="https://mountains.social/tags/trailrunning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>trailrunning</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/running" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>running</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/garmin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>garmin</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/replacement" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>replacement</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/repair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>repair</span></a></p>
hansamann 🔥❄️🚀 (he/him)<p>Does your motivation to train ever fade? I've been thinking about the different reasons we do sports, and I've put them into a simple pyramid. From "no pain" to "body-shaping" and "competition," I'd argue the top level—experience—is the most powerful of all. </p><p><a href="https://open.substack.com/pub/hansamann/p/the-motivation-pyramid?r=1sq3ws&amp;utm_campaign=post&amp;utm_medium=web&amp;showWelcomeOnShare=true" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">open.substack.com/pub/hansaman</span><span class="invisible">n/p/the-motivation-pyramid?r=1sq3ws&amp;utm_campaign=post&amp;utm_medium=web&amp;showWelcomeOnShare=true</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Motivation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Motivation</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/TrainingTips" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TrainingTips</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/FitnessJourney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FitnessJourney</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Running" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Running</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Cycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cycling</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/XP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>XP</span></a></p>

Wen<p>Bugbears and me</p><p>Why is it that manufacturers of outdoor clothing all seem to assume that it is only women who want bright clothing and with few exceptions assume that black running troos, and dark jackets are exactly what a man needs and wants?</p><p>Quite apart from the fact that I like being able to be seen when I am running and in the hills, a little colour never hurts anyone. Robin<p>Morning peeps 🌞 <br>I did not run this morning.☹️</p><p>At my usual get up and hydration time I'd only had 3 and half hours sleep, due to dozing off on the sofa last night, followed by staring at maps, thus totally ruining my chances of sleeping properly.</p><p>I did think about it for 30mins but went back to sleep and got my missing 4hours.</p><p>I can run on minimal sleep, just not in 25°c 94% humidity feels like 33°c, I need the rest, to run. <br>So, stretching later, and hope for tomorrow.<br><a href="https://ohai.social/tags/running" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>running</span></a></p>
Logan 5 and 999 others<p>My calf has been healing well. All the stretches, exercises, massage, and compression socks seem to be working well together. Walked 2 miles today and biked 4 miles very easy and slow. Each day feels a bit better. Benjamin Han<p>2/n</p><p>I asked how it thinks about my run today. I actually fat-fingered the question (was still standing on my treadmill), but it understood me fine. </p><p>Then it proceeded to give me a letter grade: a A-minus! I think I got dinged for not raising the treadmill 0.5-1% (although it had no way of knowing), and I ran a bit too fast in my last rep.</p><p>So far so good!</p><p><a href="https://sigmoid.social/tags/running" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>running</span></a></p>

Doctor: So you're a runner. How much do you run?
Me: Not much. About 40km/week.
Doctor: But that's a lot.
Me: What is a lot?
Doctor:
Me:
😅😉
Had a check-up on Friday. Blood pressure and blood values are perfect. And for the first time since I remember, I have normal lung function. Because of my asthma really great result.👍

Huge news: I've been running without my watch for a couple of weeks, and I like it. I have 15 years of favorite neighborhood routes built up, so I still know distances, and I'm not trying to hit times or PRs or anything. I'm just having fun with the dog and focusing on maintaining form.

Today's trail running tip: Get yourself some salami sticks. Not only are they tasty, salty and contains carbs and protein. In a nice easy eatable packaging that ain't too messy and don't drip sticky stuff, like other spots "food" do.

They also double as drumsticks for air drumming, which any trail runner worth their sweaty salt, will need while listening to wicked tunes, like when Lars drums his way through Metallica's banger of an album - Black Album, which was today's RAAAD.

#running injury question: it feels like I kicked something with my big toe. I have not done that. Started last night. Is this a weird delayed onset running injury, or is this just getting old, or am I unknowingly sleep walking and kicking stuff? 😅
