DHMosquito<p>Westland Lysander III (SD), Shuttleworth Trust Collection The Lysander was originally designed as an 'army co-operation' aircraft, meaning that it would work with artillery, act as short range transport, and even undertake light attack missions. Indeed a Lysander was the first RAF aircraft to shoot down one of the Luftwaffe machines on the Western front - no less than an He 111 bomber! However, it quickly become obsolescent in its designed role, but found undying fame, as the (SD) designation, meaning Special Duties, reveals. It shuttled agents and resistance fighters to and from small fields in Occupied Europe during WW2. It could carry up to 4 persons in the rear cockpit. This fine flying example is seen at the Shuttleworth Trust's airfield at Old Warden, UK <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/aircraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aircraft</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/WW2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WW2</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/aircraftphotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aircraftphotography</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photography</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/shuttleworthcollection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>shuttleworthcollection</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/avgeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>avgeek</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/aviationlovers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aviationlovers</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/secretagent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>secretagent</span></a></p>
