Jiří EischmannI really like the backup function in <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/GrapheneOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GrapheneOS</a> based on <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Seedvault" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Seedvault</a>. I know it doesn't work 100%, some apps don't support it etc. But in my case >90% of apps get backed up and restored.This is what all Androids should have. I understand <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Google" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Google</a> doesn't want to do it because for them <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Android</a> is just a gateway to their services and when you have all your data in their cloud, you don't need such backups. But other Android vendors should have it.

MarkGI have a LineageOS phone (version 21, similar to Android 14). I recently backed it up with Seedvault. But "Messaging", the default SMS/MMS texting app, didn't back up (see image).A while ago I downloaded the Fossify Message App from f-droid, but haven't used it (note "Messages" app in image). But I'm thinking perhaps this would be better. Is anyone here currently using it? So far the ONLY opportunity I encountered was after factory reset but before setup, at which point, of course, the necessary link to my cloud is not yet established. After setup and establishing the connection to my cloud it's gone for good.What's the use in providing a method for backup/restoration, if you never may use it, because you HAVE to use it BEFORE you CAN use it. Meanwhile I'm already using DAVx⁵ for accessing my calendars and contacts on NextCloud, and I can also access my NextCloud files via WebDAV, so I added a mountpoint there and used it on SeedVault.

Dazu hab ich mal einen frischen USB-C Stick (SSD) hergenommen und eine Sicherung auf dem alten Handy neu angelegt, die ich gerade auf dem neuen zurück spiele...
