If you've worked in ordinary schools it won't surprise you to know 5% of children have an EHCP: theguardian.com/education/2025 Given how hard it is to get one, it probably underestimates the number of children who need one. For me, it underlines the fact that educational policies are often unrealistic. You can *want* all children to [INSERT METRIC HERE], but how is this to be achieved in reality? What would meeting children's needs look like? #education #send

It's a whimsical notion on my part, I know, but wouldn't it be nice if this Labour government took a week off from its chosen mission of fellating plutocrats and chasing the bigot vote and — just for a week, mind you, let's not ask for the world — not spend its time kicking down to send one or other disadvantaged group into a spiral of months of panic and despair to save a few bob that will be spent on tax perks for the rich and nuclear toys that Mr Trump won't let us play with.
