I have a nerd crush on Dave Flemming. Earlier this season: discussing e-bike commuting. Last night: nerding out about Wordle (also a hilarious discussion of it last year). Tonight: discussing the non-meat options at the ballpark. Also, he’s a great announcer.

Justin Verlander was on tonight, giving up 2 earned runs over 6 innings.

Ryan Walker got the save in place of Randy Rodriguez, who is on the 15 day IL for an elbow sprain.

Giants 5 Cubs 2, final. They meet again tomorrow night in San Francisco. Same time (6:45 PM PT).

Okay, Giants fans. Verlander is pitching tonight. His 1-10 record isn't giving a clear picture of him this season. He has been either really good, or really hitable; no one knows which will be the case on any given night. Now, they're facing the Cubs, a team with a winning record. This should help Justin, as the Giants have shown a tendency to lose to teams with mediocre records, but to play well against better (record-wise, anyway) teams.

If he's on, it might be 1 run in 6 innings of work. If he's not, heck, the sky's the limit!

The fun begins in about 45 minutes from San Francisco, the hometown of fog in August.
