This morning I played through Earthrion on my Genesis! If you have it on Steam there are extraction tools to get the ROM and it is EXCELLENT 
Best Shmup I've played in years!
Worth considering the Genesis physical release next year!

After playing Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu all weekend, I was so looking forward to playing Dai-Ou-Jou last night after working the late shift.
Got home and I was able to spend two hours of quality time with it before needing to go to sleep.
The regular arcade mode is kicking my butt way worse than I remembered it doing before. 
My favourite mode has to be Arrange L though, as I'm a sucker for a good bullet cancel implementation, and the one in this more does not disappoint at all.
The game is way more lenient thanks to is, so I'm able to get to the final boss here without much trouble.
That one does tend to destroy me. 
While I do understand that people find these to be intimidating when looking at them from the outside, the one thing I don't understand is how they are described as way too stressful.
As to me they are the exact opposite.
These are the perfect flow state games to just relax with and zone out and chill.
Whether you're a seasoned shmup veteran or a curious newcomer, you'll find plenty to enjoy in these classic PS1 titles.

Along with Goldrunner, this was one of the first shoot'em-ups to impress me on Atari ST. Both for its graphics and its mesmerizing music

I'm glad to see #Bullethell / #shmup gameplay getting a revival post Undertale and with a lot of 3D games too like Returnal and #Doom The Dark Ages (many bosses are very familiar bullet-swarm combat).
It's a frustrating kind of vindication because few seem to acknowledge or even understand the connection but, yes, bullet hells are good, go play Eschatos, Bullet Heaven, Cave games! They're surprisingly accessible!
