the #shortcut key for the stupid #Office365 fucked me up so much that I had to switch it off urgently.
Of course, on a system as sophisticated as Windows, this can only be done by editing the #registry entry. So open cmd and execute the following:
REG ADD HKCU\Software\Classes\ms-officeapp\Shell\Open\Command /t REG_SZ /d rundll32

Sometimes I like to pretend I'm wandering around in the wilderness.
This is a little shortcut between a couple houses on one of my mail routes. I prefer this footpath over the alternative (crossing into a main road), even when the weather is bad.

You can also add alias/nickname for #bookmarks in Vivaldi .
You can even define a #keyboard (or #mouse) #shortcut or #menu item or toolbar #button to open, at once, one or several #url of your choice (via #CommandsChain feature)
Hello,
(feel free to reply here or on https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/streamlined-unified-user-experience-with-keyboard-shortcuts.97909/ )
As a long-time Mac user I have strong habits with a bunch of keyboard shortcuts. My new FreeBSD system is quite powerful and the XFCE desktop I’ve setup has started growing on me, even though macOS is my daily driver.
I’m using a Keychron Q11, BÉPO layout (https://www.patpro.net/cafesale/bepo2025.jpg) with some custom key bindings programmed in the keyboard firmware (VIA):
- the "print" key is mapped to a macOS "screen shot region" shortcut (super-shift-4)
- left knob is mapped to macOS combos to zoom out / zoom in / reset zoom
- right knob is mapped to generic (?) combos to Vol up / Vol down / Mute
I’m also relying on a second keyboard layer: pressing left or right "Fn" key activate the second layer that gives me access to a pseudo-numpad and media keys (https://www.patpro.net/cafesale/2layer2025.jpg).
XFCE customisation is still a work in progress but I’ve managed to setup some keyboard shortcuts like using the print key (super-shift-4) to trigger xfce-screenshooter -r. Works great.
Unfortunately I’m unable to create keyboard shortcuts that use the second layer: pressing "Fn" + "F8" should be recognised as Play/Stop, "Fn" + "F9" as Next, etc. but it looks like it’s not detected at all. I’ve used xev without success so far. It’s like the second layer is not here.
So my questions are:
- if I can make those media keys work (with your help), will they work in all apps (fooyin, firefox, VLC…) or will I face a YMMV situation depending on developers’ choices?
- how can I dig deeper to analyse and solve that problem?
Thank you!

A #shortcut to pixelate specific areas of an image by painting over them using the Markup tool
https://routinehub.co/shortcut/21783/
A few image operations needed for this shortcut aren't available in the #ShortcutsApp but, fortunately, I've been able to implement them in JavaScript and embed them inside the shortcut, so there are no external dependencies
The shortcut includes several workarounds for Shortcuts and Safari bugs
I just found a method to avoid having to be pestered by the banner when a #shortcut is running from control center or Home Screen. It involves using the url scheme to run the shortcut you want and then opening the app you were in when initiating it (or you could have it return to Home Screen). This causes the shortcut to run from inside the #shortcuts app instead of showing the banner.
Boosting this with hashtags for the #Shortcuts #Shortcut community.

Can you create a shortcut to create an Apple Music top played playlist by sub genre?
Super handy shortcut I've just discovered is for paste without rich text (cmd+shift+V on mac, ctrl+shift+V on windows). You copy a bunch of online whatever and you end up with just the text. You'd be surprised how often you use it once you know it. #keyboard #shortcut #research #productivity
Just need to say that publishing this is done entirely from my iPhone using a #Shortcut to add the image to my repository via @WorkingCopy and writing the post in @drafts. Adding the post to the repository is easily possible by a custom action that uses file bookmarks to access the repository files within Working Copy. In the end I‘m doing the commit and push in Working Copy. I will add another shortcut to the mix that commits and pushes the files after the drafts action
So great to use!

ICYMI did you know that you can use your #mouse #ScrollWheel to #scroll horizontally? All you have to do is hold down the shift-key at the same time. I saw (and boosted) a post about this recently, and it's life-changing - so much easier than trying to grab the thin and almost invisible scroll-bar! (thanks Microsoft for making everything harder to use due to your never-ending commitment to giving us changes we didn't want)
