I finally started to play the Silent Hill 2 remake.

To be honest when this game was announced I had my doubts that Bloober Team could do proper justice to such a classic game. But after almost an hour and a half I can say they delivered it!

The game is scary and does a good job of making you feel like you are alone in a creepy, deserted town.

Also I already lowered the difficulty. Because I am a coward. And reckless. A reckless coward if you will. :blobcatlaugh:

Very impressed by #silentHill2 remake still. Sticks much closer to the original vibe, layout, and story than most of the Resident Evil remakes (which are still good!)

Makes the game a lot harder and more tense--while combat is clumsy and you're sure to take damage in the original, 'difficult' isn't quite what I'd call it either.

Expanding some of the smaller areas of the game wasn't expected and they did it pretty impressively. Puzzles are mostly new too!

Deja Vu bits are a fun addition too

The #silenthill2 remake's enemies are also great, everything has more personality, more attacks, more threat.

Mannequins are trickier and even more insectoid, with some exhibiting totally new behavior in the Prison. There's Rotten Lying Figures that have a Final Attack.

3 versions of Nurses, they are VERY tricky to handle melee

Mandarins have a ranged attack and are a lot less forgettable.

Flesh Lip &Abstract Daddy bosses were much harder

#silentHill2 remake has a lot more Game to it than the original too Tbh which is cool to see

The Prison and Labrith are full-sized dungeons like the Hospital and Apartments (which also felt longer, though that may just be because the layout/puzzles are all different so I couldn't speedrun through)

The cutscenes are slightly meh but otherwise I have very few complaints, impressive stuff. "Modern" in the good ways, gameplay very tense. James still feels like a Normal Guy.

#SilentHill2 remake's difficulty has been near-perfect so far (easier if you master the dodge, I'm sure)

I constantly have 0-2 health items, just like a first playthrough of the original. Getting lost, there's real puzzles.

There's no tank controls or forced camera angles, but that's about it, it's closer to the spirit of the original than I'd have expected.

Just met Pyramid head 😁
