Who knows? Anything that might help me #sleep is worth a try.

#PSA for anyone considering a sleep study for any reason:
STAY AWAY FROM BLACKSTONE MEDICAL SERVICES
They knowingly submitted a sleep study based on false data to my insurance provider. This is after sending me a dirty, broken pulse oximeter, then ignoring my calls and attempts to inform them of this. The sensor readings were consistently low, but I foolishly tested with it anyway. They then had a "doctor" generate a sleep report based on this incorrect data. Insurance is taking their side, which means I have zero options here except to grit my teeth and get fucked financially.
Seriously, I cannot stress this enough - look for literally any other option. Random strangers on reddit would be a smarter choice here.
I wanted to show appreciation to those adults who are listening to their kids, and supporting them in finding answers for their sleep disorder symptoms.

I was absolutely too tired for anything, so #Running was slow. Nevertheless, I started listening to a new audiobook, didn’t mind being a slow pacer today, showered, worked, got home – and went straight to bed for two blissful hours. Now I’m starting to feel like myself again. Gorgeous! (And the weekend is getting closer, which is also great!) #applewatch #audiobooks #sleep

How many hours of #sleep do you need a night?
I need at *least* 7. When I have the opportunity (like over the weekends), I ideally like 9 or more, but if I get fewer than 7, I'm a zombie. I can't focus on anything, I can't think, and towards the end of the day I'm even slurring my words, almost as if I'm drunk.
Thankfully, I've never had a problem falling asleep. Touch wood, insomnia isn't a thing I've ever had to worry about. I can sleep anywhere, anytime, anyhow, in any position. I just put my head back, close my eyes, and I'm out like a light (only when I choose to; I don't have narcolepsy or anything).
I tell people that's because I have a clear conscience. Which is half a joke: while I'm sure there is some truth to it, I don't mean to imply that anyone who has trouble falling asleep when they want to DOESN'T.
But I digress. As I said, how many hours of sleep do you need a night? #polls
This common activity is linked to 59% higher odds of insomnia, study finds

A large study of Norwegian college students has found that spending more time on screens after going to bed is tied to a higher likelihood of experiencing insomnia and getting less sleep — no matter the type of screen activity.

Doing a sleep study (self-treating with a black market CPAP machine is helping but not fixing the issue, time to get a doctor involved at great personal cost).
Very interesting how the study-provided pulse oximeter consistently reads 6% lower blood O2 levels than my existing sensor. Not "on average" or "most of the time", but literally reads 6% lower 100% of the time. I had my housemate test both sensors too, and saw the same result there (as an aside, my housemates are all great sports when it comes to weird requests like "put on these two pulse oximeters for a second, I wanna see something").
*adjusts tinfoil hat* now, I'm not saying a certain home sleep study provider is intentionally skewing results so they can file more insurance claims on behalf of participants, buuuut it's awfully convenient that their sensor (a sub $200 model from Amazon) reports substantially lower numbers at all times. Almost like they have a vested interest in manipulating those numbers...
Sounds great, this viral term does. But a close look at the #sleep suggestions flung from non-experts (read: influencers) under this rubric reveals them to range from poorly presented to silly and even dangerous. There are proven strategies for improving sleep, so I compare these strange and unhelpful social-media claims to what science has shown actually works.

Ok, y'all-I don't sleep much. Call it ADHD. Call it perpetual mind-buzzing. Whatever.
But, I am so tired of all the screen-time and blue light stories that claim to be the reason. For some, yeah sure maybe these factors weigh into sleep issues. But not all!
If it weren't for reading at night on eReaders I'd get at least 1/2 sleep that I do today. As soon as my eyes get heavy, I slide the eReader under my pillow and am a "go for sleep".
Lately I have been feeling really tired. I am going to bed early - it might help! #sleep goodnight
