The challenge is not distance, it's maintaining the drive to go ahead despite facing adversity - Hitchhiking turns out is more difficult than finding a friendly bike shop to stay open later to replace a wheel. 60km outside Sudbury.

On the right, Jay (see previous post). On the left, a young 19 year old guy we met, "crazier" than us. Started walking on the road in Vancouver to head back to Montreal. Thousands of kms in, he bought some rollerblades and poles and went along gliding on the shoulder listening to beats in a quasi-dancing fashion. He slept in the ditch in his clothes with no tent. Great smile and positive attitude!

Moments of #solitude, #peace and #quiet between hard days of #riding (up to 240km and 12h days sometimes, offered proper healing for the body and the mind that I so needed.

All that goes up must come down. A recurrent theme of crossing the Coastal, Kootenays, and Rocky mountains on a #bicycle.

Furtive #campsites can be found in little patches of bush. This one came handy midway of the second ascent of the day up Anarchy pass.

Having hinted recently about my #cyclotouring habits, time has come to to start this series about this #lifechanging #trip from #2010 ~ 5300km from #Vancouver to #Quebeccity in 38 total days (32 riding). Introducing my loyal hovering-looking 2-wheeled partner for that trip and many since. #throwback

#Today (but really yesterday) I built a work bench for #bonsai or #woodworking out of a BBQ base (rest recycled) and wood left over from dismantling my son’s no longer needed (or safe) tree fort.

Total cost was $0, because I used hardware from the tree fort and some new but long ago purchased long decking screws.

It is fun being cheap when it results in useable stuff!
