Happy to share that we've incorporated #StoryToGo as a #NotForProfit society designed to reflect #storytelling today with a focus on community, #education, #mentorship, media experimentation, #socialgood initiatives, #accessibility, and the creation of #media in its many forms. storytogo.ca

Have yet to update the StoryToGo.ca, but in the meantime, join me in welcoming our first board of Directors of Lori Yearwood, Kevin Ribble, Kelly Conlin, Eva Prevost, Bjorn Yearwood and myself.

A recent study suggests that #consciousness evolved primarily to enhance #socialinteractions, #communication, and the sharing of #ideas and #emotions, rather than solely for individual survival. This view implies that human consciousness is fundamentally intertwined with #socialcooperation and #collective #wellbeing.

#Capitalism, on the other hand, is an economic system that prioritises private ownership, profit maximisation, and market competition. While it can drive innovation and economic growth, it does not inherently prioritise social well-being. In practice, capitalism leads to wealth #inequality, #exploitation, and #environmental degradation if unchecked, because the primary motive is #profit rather than #socialgood.

The apparent disconnect between the social purpose of consciousness and the often individualistic nature of capitalism raises important questions about how our economic systems align with our evolved #socialnature. If consciousness and social cooperation are deeply connected, it suggests that economic systems should also promote collective well-being and equitable resource distribution. Balancing the strengths of capitalism with robust social policies and ethical considerations might be necessary to create a system that better reflects the social aspects of human consciousness.

I just want everyone who is curious about a #CarbonMarket to take a look at #California's Energy Outlook: Supply, just for a couple of minutes.

This is a live report of energy supplies in use in the world's largest Carbon Market. You can look at it at any time.

Bringing regulation into the market, and using #CarbonTrading to harness capitalists for #SocialGood has #Cali exporting > 2 GW approaching noon, and banking almost 4 GW in storage.

Hey #Bristol & #SouthWest UK folk who work in any form of #BehaviourChange and #SocialMarketing #communications....

Would you be interested in an informal monthly meetup in a cafe/pub/other space to chat, swap ideas, stories and "network"?

I'm pondering on starting something up in the city and trying to gauge interest...

If you're wondering, this isn't an idea solely for academics or those 100% engaged in #SocialGood agency work.

There are loads of folk who work to change behaviours - #NHS communicators, #LocalGovernment folk, #charity folk etc - who might not class themselves as 'behaviour change' types, but who nevertheless are working to create change.

Social Marketing practice has, at an academic level, often missed these practitioners out - so I want to change that!

Let me know what you think and maybe we can gather!

"A non-profit in Adams County [Colorado] that feeds hundreds of people who are elderly has run out of funds, potentially leaving many folks without a meal."

You can read the story here, and there are links to donate to their website or their GoFundMe.

FOX31 Denver · No more meals for seniors in Adams County after non-profit loses fundingBy Rogelio Mares

Robert MacCulloch, Scottish minister, reflects on Isaiah 58:7. He offers guidelines on taking the poor into your house. If not literally bring them in, have relief sent to them, to deliver those with no helper.

Christians love to write about being biblical, but I only know about the translation of “poor into house” through my reading of old stuff. Do we want a clean, convenient biblicality? Whom can you include this #christmas?
