A #rnode build for #reticulum using a #raspberrypi5 and #geekwormx1206 #ups for a #carnode or #solarnode
loramesh.org/subpages/upsrnode
Running #meshchat , four #liion #21700 5000 mAh batteries seem to run the #rak4631 and Pi for at least 24 hours. The device can be re-charged using #usbc or 9 to 18 V DC at up to 3 A via a jack or other connector. The rnode shuts down cleanly when batteries run out & re-starts when power is back, whereupon the batteries charge at the same time in #passthroughcharging

Link below is for step by step instructions for installing #reticulum #meshchat on #RaspberryPi using #commandline ( e.g. with #remote #headless #ssh ) with automatic #restart of #radio #rnode #service on pi power-on or #reboot . Suitable for restart of pi+rnode after #brownout of #SolarNode following period of little sun, or for rnode in car #carnode to start automatically when car starts, or battery powered node --->

Single board computer #sbc for #lora #mesh

Installation of #reticulum #meschchat on #RaspberryPi #raspberrypi4 following github.com/liamcottle/reticulu
Video: youtube.com/watch?v=Hzq_imh79D
Shows how you can use a raspberry pi #headless i.e. without screen keyboard etc. and run it via a #browser interface, absolutely ideal for running a #radio #lora #rnode that is placed out of reach and for #solarnode #solarrnode projects in the long-run. Step by step guide following Liam Cottle's instructions above.

@pimentoad I use one atop a 10m #spiderbeam running on a totally over the top #LiFePO solar setup passed up by 15m usb cable. Not impressed by the range I get & a Station G2 is what I next want to put up. Solar powering the #T3S3 was a challenge. Used the T3S3 to use the store & forward function & it being small to go atop of a thin pole. The project details: meshtastic.discourse.group/t/s but they closed the website... #Jackery setups shown absolutely do not work at all !!! #meshtastic #SolarNode

I venture to post an oddity here
meshtastic.discourse.group/t/s
concerning the use of #usbc to #usba adapters and the effect that can have. The section in question is "Testing using USB C input via USB A output from solar panel to prevent drain of battery by the panel" in this #meshtastic #solarnode build test. If anyone can predict if my tests will fail, that would save me time and make me learn even more than I think I have. #usbc4 #usb #usb3

I am testing an open-source circuit design (meshtastic.discourse.group/t/r) for solar charging a RAK node, the aim of the circuit being to make the node re-start automatically if the battery is re-charged by the sun after having been flat (#brownout). Build details here meshtastic.discourse.group/t/r with test results not in yet.... takes time to drain the battery and see if it re-starts. For now, it is just nice and compact. #meshtastic #solarnode #pcb #rak

#meshtastic #solarnode
A box node with a battery life of about three weeks, whose battery can be solar or usb charged. The purpose of the node is to connect to the main node in the attic of the house or the node in the car. That way one only needs bluetooth connection to the box node.

build info - see meshtastic.discourse.group/t/b
