Hippie Scuba Steve<p>....goodbye to his wife and son, not knowing when he will see them again. Another powerful and emotional moment as Teal'c says to his son "I know the day will come when we will stand side by side in battle to free our people from the false gods".</p><p>Bra'tac using his staff weapon at the Stargate is a total kick-ass moment. The Jaffa Master in action! "Not bad for a man of 133".</p><p>Bra'tac says goodbye to Teal'c (for now)...."I thank you, Teal'c. I have another young warrior to teach of new worlds and false gods. Hippie Scuba Steve<p>....old, to which Jack replies "You must work out".</p><p>Bra'tac tells Teal'c his family is alive and is considered Kresh'ta (outcasts). The Kresh'ta live in a handful of camps outside the city.</p><p>Bra'tac and Jack have a brief conversation about Earth being a world without gods. Jack explains that he serves under Hammond, "Just a man. A very good, very bald man from Texas". Yep, another chuckle.</p><p>Bra'tac and the SG1 team eventually find Teal'c wife (Drey'auc) and his son in one of the camps. </p><p>Because Teal'c is considered a traitor, Drey'auc and their son are shunned even by the outcasts. This exchange between Teal'c and Drey'auc is another powerful moment....</p><p>Drey'auc: "Your heresy is an abomination, Teal'c. Even by the outcasts I am shunned"</p><p>Teal'c: "The abomination is my people enslaved by the Goa'uld"</p><p>Teal'c discovers that his son is very ill, and without the healing powers of the Goa'uld, Rya'c will die.</p><p>Teal'c makes what looks to be the ultimate sacrifice, and removes his Goa'uld symbiote and places it inside his son.</p><p>In the meantime, Sam and Daniel have been busy. They found the "sepulchre of the temple", where Goa'uld larva are stored and harvested. Powerful stuff.</p><p>I love this exchange between Teal'c and Hammond when Teal'c is ready to defy orders go thru the Stargate alone back to Chulak....</p><p>Teal'c: "I will risk no one's life but my own. Why will you not let me return?"</p><p>Hammond: "You know far too much about this command, this facility, our defenses. I can't let that kind of knowledge fall into enemy hands"</p><p>Teal'c: "I will die before allowing that to happen"</p><p>Hammond: "Damnit, Teal'c! That's just what's going to happen if you go through that gate alone! Which is why I'm inclined to authorize a mission to return to Chulak and allow you to bring your son back"</p><p>Woohoo! Go Hammond!</p><p>As the SG1 team prepares to head to Chulak, Teal'c puts on his snake helmet. Very cool indeed!</p><p>Upon arrival at Chulak, Teal'c finds out his former home has been destroyed and he instantly suspects his family is dead. There is a symbol on the side of the burned out house that means "This was the home of Shol'va" (Shol'va meaning Traitor).</p><p>Jaffa Master Bra'tac then arrives (a character I instantly knew I was going to love), and says to Teal'c "Were I an enemy, you would be dead". Hippie Scuba Steve<p>My first watch of SG-1 continues. A thread....</p><p>Just when I think that the last episode I watched was the best episode of Season 1, I have the same thing to say about the next episode. That is the case about this episode.....wow! Very enjoyable episode about some of Teal'c backstory and a family we never knew he had.</p><p>The attempt to remove Teal'c's Goa'uld larva is unsuccessful and proves that the Goa'uld is Teal'c's immune system. I like how Jack refers to it as "Junior". </p><p>Jack learns that Teal'c has a son (Rya'c) and wife that he left behind on Chulak. Jack becomes a bit upset with Teal'c for not previously disclosing this info.</p><p>Jack additionally learns that Rya'c is about to "undergo the ceremony of implantation, the Prim'ta, the day when a young boy receives his first Goa'uld symbiote and becomes a true Jaffa".</p><p>This is something that Teal'c doesn't want to happen because this is how the Goa'uld enslave the Jaffa, and Teal'c is adamant that his son will not become a slave to false gods.</p><p>Jack, Sam and Daniel try to convince Hammond to authorize a return mission to Chulak, but Hammond is suspicious of their reason and says "This is not my first barbecue" (great line).</p><p>Jack finally tells Hammond about Teal'c's family and tries to convince him to authorize the mission. "When Teal'c saved our lives on Chulak, he gave up his family, sir.
