@IndyMediaAus
Of all the #StateCapture schemes in operation today, handing over to private firms control over public money used for unemployment benefits ranks amongst the most egregious alongside health services.
The idea that it is socially, morally or even ethically valid to make a profit from the most vulnerable members of a society (the sick and the unemployed)mis the antithesis of what it means to be human. The pox on all profiteers. Renationalise Health and Social Services or let not-for-profit organisations take over. This #Grifting has got to be stopped.
@ApaulD All this has been entirely obvious to me for many many years. It blows my mind how apparently stupid &/or naive other humans seem to be, if any of this stuff genuinely "shocks" them now. Humans are such cretins.
@AvonVilla Whatever it is they are suppressing could in no way honestly be described as "shocking" to anyone at all with functional neurons who's been paying attention for the past several decades.

Outrage over Trump team’s climate report spurs researchers to fight back
Report authors welcome ‘serious’ scientific rebuttals to report that some say misrepresents decades of climate science.

What should you do now?
Simples... abandon ALL discretionary flying, at least until widespread carbonless commercial aeroplanes operate.
Why is your personal pleasure more important than Gaia?
@ApaulD Watched this live last night on the 7pm News. Was stunned & grateful for his stark bluntness. The time for avoiding the issue & being mealymouthed is long past... unless sadly you're Elbow.
Will these rorts never end? How much longer are we going to transfer wealth to the #ExtractiveIndustries in their efforts to dig up Australia and line the pockets of Corporates and the #MiningMagnates ?
“The ruling opened the door for other local governments to scrutinise miscellaneous license holders, a move which the mining sector said could cost it $55 million a year.”
The WA govt is yet again caving in to #MiningSector demands. There’s no end to the #Grifting here. No end to the #ProfitScrounging.

#TaxTheRich instead. Close #TaxLoopHoles. Massively increase #PRRT. Renounce #StateCapture. Cap #CEORemuneration. Break up #Monopolies
Good gracious, our Govt is ‘owned’! By #CorporateAustralia

https://social.chinwag.org/@abc_bot/114943879358202398 Sorry not sorry, but no, this is bullshit. ULE wood heater claims are akin to the bullshit fossilfool lies of "clean coal", "CC&S", & "natural gas being a clean replacement for coal". Arguing about shades of grey is disingenuous, when the black & white clear answer is that we MUST STOP putting more carbon into Gaia's lungs. She's already mighty pissed-off at us!
https://social.chinwag.org/@abc_bot/114941126730246543 Good! Much more of this pls!!
The science behind plastic recycling and why it needs a rethink. Plastic recycling is failing not just because of consumer habits, but also due to thermodynamic, chemical, and engineering constraints.
How a decade of Coalition bullshit on climate gave us our ‘bog standard’. Presenting a decade of Coalition sound and fury on climate action.
@smitjo
Privatiation of Public assets and services is #StateTheft and #StateCapture historically proven to be disastrous for society in every documented case and beneficial only to the #Rich
...even here in Goldstein, where the demographic is older than the national average, polling still consistently showed climate in the top three concerns of constituents.And yet, these execrable arseholes still chose to dump the excellent Zoe for The Odious Slimeball
Jack Waterford | If these climate extremists win, the Coalition can forget about getting into power ever again
Look no further than ‘partial’ #privatisation and #corporatisation of public assets for this bloody mess. The sort of mess #StateCapture has historically left us all with. Everybody pays more for failing servives. Yes, there’s no hint of ‘enlightenment’ from out foolish polies entranced by the Janus-faced #neoliberal pundits. It’s a well worn path to inequitable wealth redistribution to the top.
<Quoting from Wikepedia> In 2008, the State Government passed the Water and Sewerage Corporations Act 2008 [4] as a result of a report from the taskforce. The Act transferred council-owned water and sewage assets to three new entities: Southern Water, Ben Lomond Water and Cradle Mountain Water. A fourth entity, Onstream, provided shared services to the corporations, including payroll, billing and procurement. The state's government and the 29 Local Government councils of Tasmania became joint owners of the corporations, with Onstream being jointly owned by the three corporations. These changes took place in July 2009. <end quote>
It’s nothing short of criminal to have upended the traditional governing models of Universities in a quest to subsume every enterprise to the buffoonery of corporatism and debunked neoliberal economic fantasy.
Tertiary sector bean counters ought to have remained adjunct to academic leadership as facilitators of educational excellence.
Household budget imperatives have no place in the education system nor in govt charged with nurturing all of their charges. Anything deviating from this responsibility is a failure of their ‘duty of care’.
