Booked ourselves a little treat for next month (we'll pretend it's for my birthday even though we don't buy presents) and it will be a second attempt to sail around the Isle of Wight on the world's last seagoing paddle steamer, Waverley. Tried in 2022 but ended up spending the day in Yarmouth instead owing to some engine issues. Lovely, old vessel with an open engine room to the pistons and paddles.

Fifty years since a heritage group bought the Waverley and lovingly restored this last sea-going passenger paddlesteamer bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0mrry

Still happily sailing "doon the watter" of the magnificent Clyde Coast, and all around Scottish and UK waters.

BBC NewsWaverley: 50 years of the paddle steamer bought for £1Scotland's beloved Waverley paddle steamer marks 50 years since it became an attraction.

"Bussard",

taken 2019/04/16 w/ Agfa Optima 200sensor, heavy overexposed by damaged selene cell of its light meter. Expired Agfa APX100 35mm film, semistand developed in Fomadon LQN.

i decided to re-scan this old roll and to now edit it for printing small series of postcards. This picture:

Scanned on #EpsonV370photo w/ #VueScanPro on #OpenSUSE Tumbleweed Linux. Just a bit toned by hand (used the wonderful #GIMP 3.0 ), no further editing or manipulation.

Reading this article on new #technology in the world's largest electric ferry, being built in Tasmania, Australia: abc.net.au/news/2025-02-22/bui I was reminded of the #ferry tokens I have covered on the site. Recently this one from Stockholm, Sweden: coinofnote.com/sweden-45-ore-s but even older, and back to #Australia, this Port Jackson and Manly #Steamship Company pass: coinofnote.com/port-jackson-ma

Are any ferries still using #tokens or metal passes? Please let me know!
