There is a bug in Super Metroid with the eye doors: they fail to properly delete their projectiles upon defeat and so if you hang around after defeating them, the game could crash.
I was trying to find an article I read on this, and Google’s enshittified AI happily told me that the “Super Metroid eye door bug” refers to the bug that allows you to open certain doors by shooting missiles at the eye, and you can exploit this bug to enter Phantoon’s chamber.

To answer a chat question: it's a Holy Snorkel because of the Holy Symbol (https://castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Holy_Symbol), but I loved one person's guess that it's a reference to Holy Diver! My husband loves that song. 
Today's catch-up @pixel_dailies are the Plasma #Beam from #SuperMetroid and a group of blood cells, including two #plate -lets.
First time getting back into proper runs and I set a new PB! I’d been focusing mainly on my boss performance and it kinda shows here, but there’s still so much room for improvement that I really wanna keep going!
(that, and I scrapped like 4 runs leading up to this one so I’m very pleased)

#SuperMetroid. I've played many Metroidvanias, but not many metroids. Seems like something I would like.
#Terranigma. This was recommended to me since I liked Soul Blazer. I haven't played Illusion of Gaia either.
#ShadowOfTheColossus. A classic pillar of games as art I have yet to play.
#FinalFantasyTactics. I hear so much love for this game. I haven't played any Final Fantasy outside of trying the first game.
The irony of me expecting either my computer giving it up or me, and I’ve just gone and achieved the goal that of reaching a sub-hour run in SM!
I was completely blown away at it too—I was so sure that the run was going to fall apart at so many points, but I managed to hold on and I now have a new PB of 59:48!
Thinking back to my first timed run I did in 2023, it was a 1:21:03 and I was thinking surely there wasn’t anything else to be found right? Oh how wrong I was lmao
Not sure what I’ll do next since it was such a big goal of mine… Maybe I’ll go back to map rando for a bit.

Song Nr 2 "Maridia" is about the aquatic area in #supermetroid with its' "halls made of water" and a "tub made of narrowness". We have a pretty strong sub-theme (no pun intended) about water, so it seemed just about right to have a song about Maridia.

A couple of days ago, there was a rather lovely gaming anniversary - 30 years since the release of Super Metroid in Japan.
A quantum leap from the Fami/NES and GB adventures Samus had already enjoyed, Super Metroid cemented that the series was here to stay. Though I warrant peeps then didn't think we'd have to wait until 2002 for the next in the series after that!
This is a pretty damn cool JP ad for Super Metroid that leans deep into the horror aspects.
Today I celebrate the 30th anniversary of #SuperMetroid‘s original Japanese release. One of my favorite games of all time and easily the one I’ve played through the most.
So of course I commemorate this day by finishing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the first time.
