Lee Morgenbesser, associate professor in comparative politics at Griffith University, says Australians should "reconsider their need to travel".

"At least [take] precautions about some of the views you posted online," he says.

"I'm not suggesting self-censoring, but I'm suggesting protection from searches by the Trump government at the border."

He says travellers should also work to maintain political "neutrality" before heading to the US.

Huh.

“The implication of the Government’s position is that not only noncitizens but also United States citizens could be taken off the streets, forced onto planes, and confined to foreign prisons with no opportunity for redress if judicial review is denied unlawfully before removal,” Sotomayor wrote. “History is no stranger to such lawless regimes, but this Nation’s system of laws is designed to prevent, not enable, their rise.”

I'm so sorry, but people posting about being "fed up" with the #TrumpDictatorship don't seem to understand that this is just the very, very beginning.

It's going to get much, much worse.

I'm actually angry at the thousands of people walking the streets of the US demonstrating against Trump now.

Did all of you vote In November?

Did you #VoteBlue up & down the ballot?

Because here, in the rest of the world, we knew what was going to happen.

I'm sorry, I'm just so angry.

@shadow

This needs to be said loud and clear. It needs to be said very, very often.

One-off walks on a Saturday afternoon don't do much - they might encourage some to be involved, but generally not much.

Civil disobedience, ongoing disruptions, doing whatever it takes to bring down the #TrumpDictatorship - that's what is needed.

It's really terrific to see all of these many, many posts about the #handsoff rallies across America. Well done to organisers and people who attended.

It's futile, but well done.

Sorry, but it is, UNLESS this happens every day - not just for a pleasant Saturday stroll - but EVERY DAY.

Protest, disruption, civil disobedience has to happen EVERY DAY to have an impact.

Good luck, though.

Also - stop smiling in the photos. BE ANGRY.

Good Grief!

It’s entirely plausible that #PresidentMusk, #VicePresidentTrump and their DEI-free #CabinetOfDeplorables didn’t craft their plan to destabilize the country all on their own. It almost feels like they just plugged into #Grok, Musk’s bespoke AI chatbot, for a step-by-step guide on how to quietly dismantle a superpower.

The silver lining? #Grok also seems to offer some surprisingly viable strategies for fighting back.
