#WritingWonders 7/2 do you think people will find your MC likable?

For a sort of #technoir #cyberpunk detective, the answer is: hopefully just a little bit. He's a violent killer and most of his problems are his own fault. But at the same time, he's trying to do the right thing in a world where that is VERY hard.

Re-watching #TheExpanse for the third time, I'm struck by all the great #cyberpunk vibes. The tech is more "modern realistic," and nobody has cybernetic arms, which I know we like... but every scene with Miller screams #technoir. Little subtle moments especially: From "It keeps the rain off my head" to "What does rain taste like?"

So today a new friend shared a picture with me: his young son reading my book. Apparently the kid found it in the seatback pocket in the car, and was sounding out words to his dad on a drive. Nevermind the highly inappropriate level of violence in my #technoir #cyberpunk novel, my heart grew three sizes today.

@IsobelLynn Thanks - I hope you're right! I'm still erring on the side of the dramatic, and maybe it sounds funny, but I do want my #cyberpunk #technoir with fantasy magic to be... let's say partially grounded in real science.
