Between 4 November and 13 December 2024, #Transport for #London held a public consultation on proposals to shorten bus route 452 to run between Notting Hill Gate and Vauxhall station. 794 responses were received, including 755 with comments. 75% of these comments were negative. Key concerns included capacity and reliability issues with route 52, the loss of direct connections (e.g. to Kensal Rise and south of the River), and increased need to change buses at Notting Hill Gate. In the consultation report, #TfL committed to introducing one additional weekday evening journey on route 52 northbound to help meet demand. They confirmed passengers can still access St Charles Hospital by changing buses. Following review, TfL will proceed with the change. Route 452’s new termini will be Notting Hill Gate and Vauxhall, effective 29 November 2025, with an interchange point between routes 452 and 52 at Notting Hill Gate.

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:
#TfL confirmed that half-cab double-decker buses are not compliant with the current Bus Vehicle Standard due to front-end safety, #accessibility, and efficiency requirements. The Department for Transport clarified that accessibility laws (PSVAR) do not restrict driver cab design, though vehicles must still meet accessibility standards. In response to a request, TfL stated that Version 2.7 of the New London Bus Vehicle Specification is planned for mid-2026 but is not yet available. The New Routemaster’s design—with three doors and two staircases—was selected via a design competition before safer front-end requirements were formalised. TfL confirmed it does not currently plan to introduce Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems using bendy #buses with driver compartments separated from passenger entry, such as those used in #Belfast, Northern #Ireland and #Brisbane, #Australia.

@WalterMenteth

I tried to complete the survey, but as my feedback to them stated their impact assessment for disabled people is just wrong, and some questions did not permit me to respond about my situation at all!
Yet again govt glosses over disabled peoples views and needs.
As a accessibility advisor, who is consulted by my local authority, I expect better.

Holy crap — I’ve never seen this on the #tfl app before. What happened over there? Everyone came to work? All the trains are functioning? No customers mucking things up? Every point is operational? CRAZY!

In preparation for a trip to #London this fall, I downloaded the excellent #TfL Go app, which gives complete up-to-the-minute status of London Transport… and I discovered that London Transport is, for lack of a more delicate word, totally fucked. Points failures, fires, staff shortages, line closures, train cancellations, faulty equipment.
Can’t wait.

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:

A recent FOI request sought details on the "Red Bus Moquette," including any variants and specifications related to vehicle interiors, especially connections to the New Routemaster bus design. The request referenced a previous document mentioning the moquette and asked for any additional information held by TfL. #TfL responded that, aside from the already published document, they do not hold any further information or records relating to the Red Bus Moquette or its design influences. The request was received on 10 June 2025, and the response was issued on 3 July 2025.
