That is NOT true.

There is indeed algorithms here — on the Fediverse, used for your home-feed, including the Mastodon home-feed.

It is just a simple algorithm —

I.e., show the posts from those you follow (including boosts) showing the newest stuff first (and oldest stuff last)

That is an algorithm!

What the author should perhaps instead be saying is "RECOMMENDATION-ENGINE" (which is a type of AI) rather than "algorithm"

Algorithms are breaking how we think from @TechConnectify is a wide-ranging video with a lot of important points. I think the central theme is how willing we have become to surrender our critical thinking capacity to automated forces.

Even on Fediverse where we (generally) don't have an algorithmic feed, we still often behave in ways that collapse context.
