Jake in the desert<p>Toys in the Attic was released today (April 8) in 1975. Despite liking Aerosmith a lot and digging a lot of their songs, I can't really do full Aerosmith albums, there's always too many wonky songs on em. But Toys in the Attic has Walk This Way, Big Ten Inch Record, and Sweet Emotion. Those are three killer songs. And despite the dumb crap (that apparently is well loved?) at the beginning of Sweet Emotion before the song really starts, I maintain it's one of Aerosmith's best songs. </p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1EaIzk7_DE" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=r1EaIzk7_D</span><span class="invisible">E</span></a></p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/70sAlbums" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>70sAlbums</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Aerosmith" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Aerosmith</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ToysInTheAttic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ToysInTheAttic</span></a></p>

Something about this LP feels grimy, from the thick mud of the arrangements to the way the band lumbers through “Back to the Saddle” and “Combination” like outlaws in a gothic western. The previous year’s <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ToysInTheAttic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ToysInTheAttic</span></a> sounded limber and energized by comparison – think of “Walk This Way’s” proto-rap spirit.
