Two weeks+ travel on German regional trains was really simple with the
#deutschlandticket
I only missed one connection (the timetable offered a 2 min change, no big deal I waited 20 min for the next train) and there were no big delays. I avoided the biggest cities. It took a few days to get rid of
#interrail habits (travel days & journey activations are not needed ). The interrail habit of getting my money’s worth out of a “travel day” stuck, though. Next time I’ll go shorter distances in a day. For slow travel in Germany I’d definitely do it again. It was also great to be able to use local transportation without the hassle of finding out how to buy a ticket and for which zones. I bought the ticket in the FahrPlaner app, check the conditions for how to cancel (basically: order on day 1-10 the month before traveling and cancel immediately) But if you have to pay for 2 months like I did, it’s still a good deal.
