"The critical moment for sending #troops to help #Ukraine get the situation under control is right now."

Russia has been waging war against Europe for some time with its guerilla attacks on infrastructure. European "leaders" are all just too spineless to admit it because then they would have to respond.

Europe doesn't even need to put soldiers on the ground. European air forces could provide air support to Ukrainian ground forces while also destroying Russian air defences.

That would be a major force multiplier for Ukrainian ground forces and allow more Ukrainian long range drones and missiles to reach their targets deep in Russia.

Ideally, three main targets in Moscow need to be destroyed. The GRU headquarters, the FSB headquarters and the Kremlin.

You may have heard Russia broke through main Ukrainian defence lines in #Donbas.

It is true. Unfortunately.

Any chance of Russia seeking peace without maximalist demands went there. They’ll want even more now.

Russia doesn’t care about losses. These dirt-poor countryside folk paid more than their entire lives? Russians are totally okay with them dying.

The critical moment for sending #troops to help #Ukraine get the situation under control is right now.

Or our children WILL fight Russia.

…According to White House ofcls, #troops will be deployed to protect federal assets & facilitate a safe environment for law enforcement to make arrests. The #Trump admin believes the highly visible presence of law enforcement will deter violent crime. It is unclear how the admin defines providing a safe environment for law enforcement to conduct arrests, raising alarm bells for some advocates.

As #DC the #NationalGuard arrived at their HQ Tuesday, for many residents, the prospect of #federal #troops surging into neighborhoods represented an alarming violation of #local #agency. To some, it echoes uncomfortable historical chapters when politicians used language to paint historically or predominantly #Black #cities & neighborhoods with #racist narratives to shape public opinion & justify aggressive #police action.

In the 8 days that followed, #Trump refocused his attention on #DC. He enlisted AG #PamBondi to oversee the #police & #Defense Secy #PeteHegseth to call up the #troops. #JeaninePirro, who was recently approved as DC’s #USattorney, was prepared to increase prosecutions.

“We will have full, seamless, integrated cooperation at all levels of law enforcement & will deploy officers across the district with an overwhelming presence,” Trump said during a long news conference.

Those questions were answered Monday morning, when #Trump federalized the #DC #police dept & authorized some 800 #NationalGuard #troops to patrol #city streets…. Speaking to a packed White House briefing room, he gave them a far-reaching mandate to clear #homeless encampments, make #arrests & “to do whatever the hell they want” in curbing *crime* — an exertion of #executive #power never before attempted by any #US #president in modern history.

The 300 #troops in each of the two headquarters’ locations would be outfitted with weapons & riot gear, the documents say. The first 100 would be ready to move within an hour, with the second & third waves ready to move within two & 12 hours notice, the documents note, or all immediately deployed when placed on high alert.

The quick-reaction teams would be on task for 90 days, the documents said, “to limit burnout.”

The test followed months of unrest in cities across the country, prompted by the #police murder of #GeorgeFloyd, that spurred #NationalGuard deployments in numerous locations. #Trump, then nearing the end of his first term, sought to employ active-duty #combat #troops while #Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper & other Pentagon officials urged him to rely instead on the Guard, which is trained to address civil disturbances.

While most #NationalGuard commands have fast-response teams for use within their home states, the proposal under evaluation by the #Trump admin would entail moving #troops from one state to another.

The National Guard tested the concept ahead of the #2020election, putting 600 troops on alert in Arizona & Alabama as the country braced for possible #PoliticalViolence [but still *somehow* weren’t called up on #Jan6 till too late].

The plan calls for 600 #troops to be on standby at all times so they can deploy in as little as one hour, the documents say. They would be split into 2 groups of 300 & stationed at #military bases in Alabama & Arizona, with purview of regions east & west of the Mississippi River, respectively.

🚨Trump plans to create #military reaction force for *civil unrest*

The #Trump admin is evaluating plans that would establish a “Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force” composed of hundreds of #NationalGuard #troops tasked with rapidly deploying into #US cities facing #protests or other unrest, acc/to internal #Pentagon docs reviewed by WaPo.

The Washington Post · Pentagon plan would create military ‘reaction force’ for civil unrestBy Alex Horton

The 1878 #PosseComitatusAct prevents the president from using the #military as a #domestic #police force. The case could set precedent for how #Trump can deploy the guard in the future in #California or other #states.

The Dept of #Defense ordered the deployment of roughly 4,000 California #NationalGuard troops & 700 #Marines. Most of the #troops have since left but 250 National Guard members remain, acc/to the latest figures provided by the #Pentagon.

Most of the agents will be pulled from their regular duties at the #FBI’s Washington field office….

The troop activation in #Washington comes after the deployment this summer of nearly 5,000 #NationalGuard troops to #LosAngeles with orders to help *quell* #protests that had erupted over #immigration raids & to *protect* the federal agents conducting them. All but about 250 of those National Guard #troops have since been withdrawn.
