Great to see broad support for @BarcelonaDORI in the Netherlands.

This week Universities of the Netherlands #UNL signed the Barcelona Declaration.

The Declaration has also been signed by five #UNL members:

Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking at French Ranking Day organized by #Clarivate and Université PSL.

I spoke about growing global dissatisfaction with major university rankings, including commitment made recently by the Dutch universities to work on culture change in use of rankings universiteitenvannederland.nl/. #UNL

I also presented ongoing work to create fully open edition of @cwts #LeidenRanking leidenmadtrics.nl/articles/the. @neesjanvaneck @OpenAlex #COKI

Last week, the National Science Foundation announced Rural Confluence as one of 11 projects in NSF's efforts to develop #research infrastructure.

This 4-year project is a collaboration among #UNL, #OSU and #LSU. Objectives include:
✅ Engaging rural communities to create shared frameworks for #climate resilience,
✅ Projecting #ClimateChange impacts and community resilience scenarios, and
✅ Expanding opportunities for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.

Today Universities of the Netherlands #UNL published the report 'Ranking the
university - On the effects of rankings on the academic community and how to overcome them' universiteitenvannederland.nl/.

As a member of the expert group, I had the pleasure to contribute to this report. It proposes a systematic strategy toward culture change around university rankings and league tables.

Very happy to see a strong commitment of the Dutch universities to set in motion this process of culture change.
