well it finally happened but I dunno if it'll do any good. I had pretty well started ignoring the team this season, following #nwsl and #usl more closely. will still probably mostly ignore the #mls, though. the brasileirão is in full swing and the other domestic leagues are more exciting.

Portland Hearts of Pine, in their first-ever game, beat amateur side CD Faialense 4-0 to advance to the second round of the U.S. Open Cup.

If you're an expansion team and you want to endear yourself to the public, stomping an amateur side 3-0 in the Open Cup is a fine way to do it.

I definitely want to go up to Portland, Maine to see Hearts of Pine play this summer.

Problem is, I might not even be able to get a ticket if the enthusiasm around the team keeps up.

USL owners have voted to approve Pro/Rel within the league. As superfan of a USL Championship team, I think this is awesome! The season actually has consequences, you can't just phone it in, if you do, you go down a league. On the flip side, up and coming teams have the ability to work their way up, which is awesome.
