No Kings Day

Today’s the day. It’s not too late to get out there. In Cascadia, most protests haven’t even started yet. If you can’t do the mornings, some protests start late – Lake Forest Park’s protest starts at 4:30 in the afternoon.

So find your local No Kings protest and show up. More different protests are better, not worse; one huge protest is easy to crack down upon; a dozen across the same area is impossible.

All protests right now are important, but today’s is particularly important.

Get out there. Go.

No KingsNo KingsOn June 14—Flag Day—Donald Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else.

🚨NEWS🚨

President Zelensky said only Trump could stop Putin but emphasized that cutting Russia’s revenue is key. He urged tougher sanctions on oil and banking, warning rising oil prices threaten Europe’s security. He also opposed U.S. aid cuts to Ukraine.

Unlike the two alleged attempts on Beloved Leader, the assassination of Minnesota Dem politician Melissa Hortman and her husband, and the shooting of State Senator (and yes, a Democrat) John Hoffman and his wife are real and show exactly where this country is going.
Feeling Great yet America?

Oh dear Lord… 😳

“Two Minnesota lawmakers have been shot in their separate homes.

One of the lawmakers – Democratic state representative Melissa Hortman – has died, as has her husband, Mark, the state’s governor, Tim Walz, confirmed at a press conference on Saturday. He said the shooting ‘appears to be a politically motivated assassination.’” 😢

I'm mad at...

Republican voters
Non-voters
Republican lawmakers
Ineffective Democrats - I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CONSTANTLY TELL YOU HOW TO DO YOUR JOB
The media
The courts
Grifters - No I will NOT RSVP to your protest to help you build a fundraising mailing list that I have no faith that you won't turn over to the cops.

Probably someone I'm missing, but grrrrr.

Framing is everything.

"You can keep your healthcare" is often listed as a "major lie" of "Obamacare" (they call it the ACA when they use it themselves)

The reason many people lost their "healthcare" is those plans were either completely destroyed by the ACA's offering beating it out, or just plain not actually qualifying as 'healthcare' under the new rules

People were mad the ACA exposed their plans as a scam

"Never Pay" plan from Monty Python

I'll be out and about later today, and honestly? I resent the hell out of it.

The vast majority of my adult life, any political action I've had to take has been in service of cleaning up the messes of Republican voters and lawmakers.

I know democracy requires maintenance, but fucking hell I'm tired of being on clean up crew while hearing "Oh, I didn't vote for *this*!" The fuck you didn't.
