just wrapped up unfucking a #proxmox #windows server guest that had imported disks from #vmware. it was an arduous process that involved a ton of time with bcdedit/bcdboot. i also had to use dism to manually inject the #virtio drivers. ugh.

i really should document this and make it a blog post or something but i am so very exhausted. i need to do this again with another guest so maybe i'll write it all down then.

Another weird idea, i'd like to try:

adding a 3rd member to my #zfs mirror, but it's #iSCSI over fast ethernet over #powerline 😅 - put it in the cellar, 3 storeys down, see what happens.

I've got everything i'd need for a test setup - that little Wyse 3040 thin client has 1 USB3 port…
*record scratch, rewind*

I think #virtio NICs can be manually throttled to a fraction of "fast ethernet".

Hmm, virtualised, the test would exclude the weird old powerline bridges, though.

Back to Plan A, then!

#AMD Continues Work On Enhancing #GPU Support With #Xen #Virtualization
AMD posted patches as part of their start for adding #VirtIO GPU and passthrough GPU support for Xen. AMD has been working on this both for #HVM on #DomU and #PVH on Dom0 modes. Other patches from AMD for enhancing graphics support when making use of Xen, but again without a clear motivation why especially considering the dominance of KVM and less industry interest around Xen in more recent years.
