Mo's Iceland photos<p>The <a href="https://icelandphotos.co.uk/tags/eruption" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eruption</span></a> in <a href="https://icelandphotos.co.uk/tags/Iceland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Iceland</span></a> is still ongoing but now another factor has emerged - <a href="https://icelandphotos.co.uk/tags/vog" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vog</span></a>.</p><p>Vog is air pollution formed when gases and particles emitted by an erupting <a href="https://icelandphotos.co.uk/tags/volcano" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>volcano</span></a> react with oxygen and moisture in the presence of sunlight. The word is a portmanteau of the words "volcanic" and "smog."</p><p>The principal components are water vapour (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), sulphur dioxide (SO₂), and hydrogen sulphide (H₂S).<br>High level sulphides create a blue haze, filtering the sunlight to a lurid orange.</p>
