The Streets of Melbourne<p>It’s <a href="https://aus.social/tags/AustraliaDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AustraliaDay</span></a> today! </p><p>Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. It marks the 1788 landing of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove.</p><p>It’s celebrated with a public holiday, family time, sausage in bread, meat pies, fun and recreation. </p><p>Some choose not not celebrate this day given the challenges associated with indigenous rights and the plight of equality for our aboriginal people throughout their lands. </p><p>Today from a visual hedonistic day, I’ll feature the <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Australian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Australian</span></a> iconic <a href="https://aus.social/tags/wattletree" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wattletree</span></a>. They grow to between 3 and 8 m (10 and 30 ft) in height. My childhood home had a massive one on the nature strip, I remember it fondly. </p><p>Each flowering bud is a ball-like structure that is covered by 40 to 100 small flowers that have five tiny petals and long stamens, which give the flower head a fluffy appearance.</p><p>These trees flower prolifically from mid year but tease us all year round with small flowering growths.</p><p>These 📷 pics are sourced from lawn.com.au to show what a full bloom looks like. They’re one of my favourite iconic <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Australian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Australian</span></a> tree… for obvious reasons!! </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/urbanflora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>urbanflora</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/flora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>flora</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/garden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>garden</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/melbourne" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>melbourne</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/aesthetichedonist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aesthetichedonist</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/januaryjoy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>januaryjoy</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/gardeningAU" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gardeningAU</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/narrm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>narrm</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/victoria" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>victoria</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Australia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Australia</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/godmustbeabotanist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>godmustbeabotanist</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/makesmehappy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>makesmehappy</span></a></p>
