TRIUMPH! The LAST and FINAL thing holding me back from completely moving to #Wayland was replacing #AutoKey for text expansion.

#espanso appears to replace all the functionality (at least that I use, although the scripting is not via Python). Happy!

NOTE! DEBIAN USERS! If you follow the instructions on the installation page, you get an old release that has dependency issues. Download the LATEST RELEASE 2.2.3 of the Wayland .deb

github.com/espanso/espanso/rel

and then follow the installation instructions:

Wayback 0.1 released

Wayback, the recently announced tool that will allow you to run a legacy X11 desktop environment on top of Wayland, has just announced its first release, version 0.1. As the version number implies, there be dragons here, but the developers state some of them already use Wayback on a day-to-day basis. Still, there's no multi-monitor support yet, quite a few X.org options are just stubs for now,

@rl_dane @sotolf @rozodru @paul They've clearly tried to walk back the Linux-first-ness of #Wayland more recently and wayland.freedesktop.org/ at least now includes the following:

"Wayland does not restrict where and how it is used. A Wayland compositor could be a standalone display server running on Linux kernel modesetting and evdev input devices or on many other operating systems, or a nested compositor that itself is an X11 or Wayland application (client)."

I’m finally able to use Wayland on an ongoing basis

It was the need for Waydroid only working under only Wayland, that forced me to again have another go at Wayland this week on my Manjaro KDE Plasma. Yet again I hit some issues, one or two of which were show-stoppers, but I have finally overcome the ...continues

Mwm: an X11 window manager in 20 lines of code

Is KDE too much for you? GNOME tries to do too much? Xfce still a bit too fancy? Do you need something smaller? Even more minimalist? What about a mere 20 lines of code which provide the absolute barest possible minimum of window management functionality?

You need mwm.

This is the smallest, actually usable window manager I know about. Ev

I’m sick of fighting just to get even simple automated window geometries to work consistently and sanely with #Wayland.

So I went back to the roots and discovered there is actually an #FVWM3 now!

Perfect geometries. Everything under control. Lightning fast and light. And even sound is way better directly through ALSA.

Funny how it feels amazing for my computer to work for me again, instead of me trying in vain to work with it.

Hey #OpenGL and #graphics people, are there any graphics profiling/instrumentation/frame debugger solutions which work with OpenGL on modern non-Windows systems? Something à la #RenderDoc but that works on #Wayland or Apple Silicon Macs. To do frame debugging right now I have to log out of my Wayland session on my #Linux desktop and log in to #X11, which is uber-broken on my mixed DPI fractional scaling multi monitor setup... #programming #graphicsprogramming #macdev

2) Zoom Screensharing weil Electron App
3) Element Screensharing weil Electron App
