The Zillierbach barrier #lake south of #Wernigerode . It was built to stop the flash floods that occasionally came out of the #Harz mountains and which threatened the town.

Near the Kaiserturm ("Emperor's Tower") at #Wernigerode , there was a short "fairy tale path" where they told and illustrated the tale of Rapunzel for the kids.

Obviously, they used the censored version of the tale - no mention of the fact that Rapunzel got knocked up by the prince when he was visiting, and later gave birth to twins out of wedlock!

There used to be a bridge in front of it. According to local legend, a sinister "black man" once confronted a treasure hunter there.

This Schnitzel #restaurant in #Wernigerode is in the historical "Heidemühle", a former water #mill which, according to local folk tales, was the home of a clan of dwarves.

I recommend the "Feuerteufel" Schnitzel.

A fulling #mill in #Wernigerode . Its foundations were constructed slightly tilted so that the structure could withstand the pressures of fullung process.
