Will they finish the toe? Or. Are they doomed to use a few inches of non-matching yarn?

A game of #YarnChicken ahead.
I'm crocheting the Blue Belle Shawl https://richtexturescrochet.com/blue-belle-shawl-crochet-pattern/
But not the picot edge. The plan was to just finish with the all double #crochet row to give it a clean border.
I've a set amount of yarn and when I got close to the end I thought one more repeat would be in it. I'm now about to start that dc row and it's obvious there won't be enough yarn.
So I'm trying if it's enough yarn to do a single crochet row.
40 rows to go, each with 14 stitches plus turning chains.
I am not going to win yarn chicken.
I do have another ball of this yarn. It is packed in a box ready for moving. I did not make a note of which box I packed it in.
Oops
Part 10.... not complete. Played an extreme game of yarn chicken and I'm going to lose.... And the yarn I need is out of stock time to undo these 7 rounds and start again with a new colour

I thought I’d let my mind find a good solution for the London section of my cross stitch while I finish off a crochet project. Two Sophie’s gardens from a yarn cake with the aim of having them both finish on the same shade.
The one on the left was completed ages ago. The one of the right has 5 rows left to go.
That ball of yarn looks very small.
Don’t think I’m going to make it…
I've been playing the fun kind of #yarnChicken

You got it: cat, knitting, @thepwhlofficial Minnesota vs Ottawa. I have less than half an inch of the body left. Once I’m there, I’m going to do the arms before I do the bottom ribbing. #YarnChicken
It’s yarn chicken for dinner tonight, folks. I need about 5 more rows on this hat; & I know, from rows previously completed & frogged, that I have enough yarn for about 1-7/8.
My plan is to sift through my chaotic stash & see if I can come up with a compatible black or brown yarn for the next 3 rows; & then try & get two rows of edging/brim turnback out of the rest of this. But first, maybe some actual dinner.
SIGH
This was handspun soo… I guess I go through my scrap fiber bin to see if I have anything I can blend that will be sorta close?
Well ... I lost. 4 more sts to cast off!
Before the previous row I measured the yarn left over and tied a knot half way along the length. I hadn't reached the knot by the end of the row so thought I'd be safe. Does casting off use more yarn? . Not something I'd thought about before
In the spirit of #FallFinishAlong, 3 days ago (3 days??? just 3 days???) i posted about a #YarnChicken victory at the middle of the shawl I'm knitting.
Pictured here, because I'm slow at moving pictures over from the camera to the pc :D
Anyway, the whole shawl is made of 4 balls of yarn, I started it in mid June, finished #knitting the second ball 3 months later. and now I've almost finished working the third ball, and I'm ready to attach the last one.
The last quarter of the work is probably going to go significantly slower, because it's no longer garter stitch, but still. I wasn't sure this would have been ready for December, but now it's starting to look realistic.
I'm #knitting a shawl in two colours, and according to the precision scale I have exactly the amount of yarn I need to knit another two rows with the first colour before moving on to the next one.
I've added a lifeline, in case I lose this round of #yarnChicken.
And now, I should really stop knitting and have my breakfast, but that would delay *knowing*.
I needed 7 knitted squares, and what you're looking at is a square TWO STOCKINETTE ROWS shy of being a complete 7th square.
Never play Yarn Chicken. The house always wins.
#YarnChicken victory
That's what was left from a 600 m / 100 g ball of yarn. 2.4 m or 0.4 g.
My latest #knitting is finished, all ends woven in. It now just waits for its turn in the washing machine.
