NEW: "What To Do When There Is Nothing To Be Done"
Understanding our reality can feel immobilizing, but it doesn't have to be. Here are strategies you can use to fight for the future you want — even when it seems like there is nothing you can do.

@davetroy Boosted and sent to a few folx who aren't on Mastodon.
@SordidAmok thank you!
@davetroy this is so helpful. Sharing it with friends and family. Thanks for the approachable words of practical wisdom.
@marinao sure thing, thank you!
Good stuff, thanks for posting. I hope you won't mind my adding an addendum to #5 Recognize That Ideas Are Weapons.
For people doing larger scale organizing, I highly recommend signing up for the Freedom Over Fascism Movement Briefings that are presented on a regular basis by ASO Communications, https://www.asocommunications.com, The Research Collaborative, https://researchcollaborative.org/, and a few others.
Please DM me for a link to sign up.
For everyone, the same folks regularly update their ...
Freedom Over Fascism toolkit, https://bit.ly/FreedomOverFascism, with material produced for the briefings that they also use in trainings they do for activust and advocate organizations.
@davetroy j'aime bien Saul Alinski : quand il n'y a rien à faire, c'est qu'il y a beaucoup à faire.
Thanks for "#7: Turn Off the News and Read Books" . Depth is needed. We need to understand history. There are also good docuseries (for non- readers); some dramatizations too.
@davetroy This is a must read for all who believe in our democracy and plan on pushing back against the dictator wanna-be who assumes power this next month!
@davetroy Turning over a new leaf, Dave? Or more accurately returning to what made you good before you lost yourself down that Bircher rabbit hole. More aligned to the 2014 you that excelled at humanizing the costs of technological overreach. I'm willing to let past bygones be bygones if you are. As a peace offering hit me up in DM's. Think I have some leads on the juciest story of the year. Just make sure to credit me. Deal?
I confronted my family in 2018 over their support for Trump and in 2023 my chosen family over their harmful ideas.
I kept thinking, “don’t they know they are participating in information campaigns that go against their own self interest?”
I struggled with my relationships but then read this which defined the issue into three categories:
“I’m too upset that I’ve lost yet another good friend to”:
1. conspiracy theories
2. right-wing extremism
3. anti-vax misinformation
