@wdlindsy This is dangerous for the armed forces too. Once they can be used to attack political groups and politicians, the dictator wielding them must also fear that one day they will be used against him by its generals. So he must keep them weak and divided. This is why the armies of dictators are so ineffective: it is by design. Once Trump uses the army against his opponents, he must also weaken and divide the army so that it cannot be used to depose him.
