Perhaps you should inform yourself about the routineness with which doctors performed abortions for medical reasons in the past, with no legal restrictions and no sense that they were doing anything other than serving their Hippocratic Oath. I've read one medical diary after another kept by 19th-century rural US doctors, which casually mentions that they had performed an abortion for medical reasons.
