We had our first book club meeting on Sunday, discussing chapters 1 and 2 of Designing Data-Intensive Applications (1st Edition).
The audio recording is on our Discord.
Plenty of time to catch up and join us for the chapters 3 and 4 discussion on June 22nd. #ElixirLang
Is anyone using duckdb with elixir/Phoenix? what are you using it for?
TIL that SmartRent forked the #ElixirLang Styler project to actually make it configurable. Quokka is the Credo-but-just-fix-it-for-me that I've wanted for 6 years of doing Elixir.
I’m still working on that blog post I mentioned about calling Go code from #ElixirLang via a C node written in #CrystalLang. Hopefully by end of the week I’ll have it.
The Elixir Book Club has chosen our next book!
Designing Data-Intensive Applications (1st Edition)
This highly regarded book reviews the options and trade-offs to consider when handling large datasets.
We meet on Discord for an hour every other week. Our first meeting is Sunday, June 1, 2025, and we will discuss chapters 1 and 2.
I’m currently looking for Elixir contracting opportunities; ideally in the 15–32 hours per week range.

My best projects come through referrals. If you know a team that could use a seasoned Elixir dev, I’d be grateful if you passed this along.
It is wild how the years go by. I've had a team for a lot of the time I've run Underjord now. They've done an eclectic variety of things with Elixir at the core. They did 3 years on a Phoenix and Elm project.
They've now been for at least a year doing some Nerves, lots of Flutter.
