Found a fawn?
“The best mother for a fawn is its own mother,” MARS says – so before intervening, it urges people to do the following: https://cheknews.ca/kind-napped-fawns-lone-baby-deer-likely-dont-need-your-help-says-mars-rescue-centre-1259678/
I just saw a black-tailed deer roe trying to go across a busy road with her newborn fawn.
This is a reminder that at this time of year deer and elk are giving birth.
Please keep your dogs on a leash!
Please do not pick up a fawn because it is on its own and you think it has been abandoned. Their mother hide them when they go foraging and they will return.
So I’m out in the woods today pulling garlic mustard and nearly step on this little one.
Amazingly vulnerable at this age, and cute. But they sure do trash the plants when they get older…
A fawn had gotten separated from its mom due to a chain link fence. I think mom hopped the fence. The fawn began calling for the mom, but the mom went into the woods. The fawn laid down next to our compost pile in the backyard. This started around 3 pm and the mom came back around 1130 pm.
