One of my New Year's Resolutions is to get into building R packages. I can see plenty docs/webinars for learning how to make them. However, does anyone have favourite open source packages they think show good examples using best practices and/or style in modern R package coding? Big or small, general or niche, just looking for nice code to read 🤓

New paper on "Modelling animal network data in R using STRAND"

"#Bayesian approaches to #network data analysis are well suited to resolving known challenges in the animal behaviour literature...to facilitate ease of use, we provide a tutorial for our #Rpackage that allows end users to build complex network analysis models using simple lm-style syntax in base R, simplifying the process of modelling empirical network data."

Last week, CRAN released the version 1.0.1 of "collinear", the R package I wrote during my summer holidays.

It helps filter out numeric and categorical collinear predictors, and let's you decide in what order of preference these predictors should be removed.

You can find more info about the package here: blasbenito.github.io/collinear

I've also written a post about how multicollinearity can hinder model interpretability: blasbenito.com/post/multicolli

I hope you enjoy it!

I also have a new #software package out! If you ever need to visualise and quantify the impact of #Pleistocene sea level change on island archipelagos and their associated biota, boy do I have the software for you!

#PleistoDist is a new #Rpackage that allows you to generate maps of island extents over Pleistocene time, and can calculate how island area, perimeter, distance, and even visibility changes over Pleistocene time. More at besjournals.onlinelibrary.wile
