The Gifford Fire is actively burning along Highway 166, near the Cuyama Corridor. Smoke is visible throughout the area.

Evacuation Orders have been issued for the area south of Highway 166, east of Willow Springs trailhead, and west of Cottonwood Canyon Rd. Residents should leave now. See image below of area under Evacuation Order.
For sheltering assistance, please call the American Red Cross at 805-678-3073.
This is a dynamic situation. Residents should maintain awareness and monitor for potential changing conditions.
Highway 166 is now closed between Highway 101 and New Cuyama. Avoid traveling in this area, unless you are evacuating the area.

I really liked this informal community poll and thematic analysis on SLO usage. It does a better job at highlighting the hurdles to adopting them at a Company Who Is Not Google than a lot of "Here's how to do SLOs" pieces that just don't cover it.

If there is ever a "Seeking SLOs" book, this should be the first chapter.
