This place will be swarming with mosquitoes in a few weeks, but for now, I enjoyed a cozy detour walk on my way to go fly fishing
Today I took advantage of the short window of time when it wasn't raining and dove into the swamp.
There are many levels. Above my head are the trunks of willows and their crowns, below them the bush willows and the collapsed old trunk I walk on. Below them the lower herbaceous floor and below that water and dead wood, old leaves, mud. And these tiny sponges glowed orange. I had to go deep. They're about three to five millimeters long.

Last month-ish, while walking in a park, I was kinda hoping I'd run into some bones, because there are owls known to hang out in the area. While I didn't find any notable bones in the woods, I did happen across this at the edge of one of the swampy zones. It was even at face level! I took this to mean the swamp deity took a liking to me.
