A federal judge on Wednesday ordered #SeanCombs to remain in #jail until his #trial for #SexTrafficking & #racketeering #conspiracy, rejecting an appeal by the music mogul’s lawyers requesting that he be released on bail.

Judge Andrew L. Carter Jr. said at a hearing in Lower Manhattan that #Combs posed a risk of #WitnessTampering and was a #danger to the #safety of the community.

They are charged w/ use of #ExcessiveForce, conspiracy to commit #WitnessTampering , #obstruction of #justice & deliberate #indifference to #TyreNichols’s #medical condition.

Once a jury is seated, prosecutors & defense lawyers will give their opening statements. The trial is expected to last ~3 wks.
2 of the officers involved in the beating — Desmond Mills Jr. & Emmitt Martin III — have pleaded #guilty to using #ExcessiveForce & a #WitnessTampering #conspiracy. As part of the plea agreements, the #DOJ recommended Martin face a sentence not to exceed 40 yrs in prison & Mills to face no more than 15 yrs.

The adviser told a witness to “do a ‘Frank Pentangeli’”–a character in “The Godfather Part II” who lies to a Senate cmte investigating #OrganizedCrime. Trump later #pardoned both men….(He didn’t pardon a co-defendant of the campaign manager who had cooperated)
