As Reuters reports, Supreme Court Justice Alito has refused to recuse himself from "a tax case that involves an attorney who interviewed him for a newspaper article and helped him "air his personal grievances."
A reminder: Alito is Catholic. So is Thomas. So is Roberts, who refuses to hold either justice accountable for unethical behavior.

Biden and Pelosi don't seem to use their offices to advance Catholic causes, so, of course the more militant bishops rage at them.
Every (fundamentalist) American Christian denomination is willing to forgive a lot if a given politician sometimes advances their cause and are equally as quick to chastise if a given politician never helps them.
@wdlindsy@toad.social@ferricoxide I'd say that both Biden and Pelosi have been very clear about how their Catholic faith animates their political life — as a value system rather than an attempt to impose a Catholic "cause" on others. In that regard, I think they're a lot closer to the vision of Pope Francis than of many US Catholic bishops.
