#Mastodon and the #fediverse in general is one of the only applications that I still feel comfortable using on my #iPad, because I don’t get inundated with #advertising. Most websites at this point are completely unusable on my #iPad and #iPhone, even though I have a #Pihole on my network, because #Apple won’t let me install #uBlockOrigin on my browsers, and all the proprietary apps are even worse that using a browser. The only other thing on my #iPad that I find tolerable is reading #ebooks.

Some VANDAL has torn down an innocent McDonald's advert from a phone box and replaced it with a big sheet of paper for kids to draw on (and left a box of crayons inside the phone box)

One of the funniest (and milkshake ducked, keep reading) social media personalities out there has to be Tony from LC Sign, a Chinese signage maker. Tony makes fun of accents and personalities to sell LED signs, and he was really good at it…until he started mocking gay and trans people.

#Humor is only funny when you’re punching up, or at least punching sideways. When you start picking on a class of people currently being systematically oppressed around the world, you’re punching down, and your jokes are no longer funny. I stopped watching his videos after that.

In a recent interview, Tony showed zero remorse at using homophobia to hawk his wares.

Three pieces of #advertising, which happened to arrive close together in the post: Window and gutter cleaning services, Waitrose supermarket and Japanese gardening tools from Niwaki.
Noticeable is that they all have their vans/4x4s on the cover. Why?
Could they really not think of anything more attractive to show?
Do they think that having a vehicle with their name written on is some sort of endorsement?
Or do they all employ the same 8-year-old to design their marketing materials?
